Oil Craters as Iran Steps Back
The Dollar Prints a Fresh High and the Score Stays Pinned at Zero
Tuesday, July 28, 2026
TRADER'S BRIEF
Crude oil (USO) crashed 8.73% to 124.76 Monday (WTI settled down 7.5% at $82.61/bbl) after Iran signaled it would halt attacks if the U.S. does too, unwinding weeks of Middle East war premium in a single session.
The dollar (UUP) printed a fresh 52-week high at 28.60, pinning the Supercycle Score at its literal floor: 0/100, "They've Gone to Plaid," for the second time in three sessions.
Gold (GLD) and silver (SLV) both firmed and confirmed GREEN, up 0.7% and 0.65%, with spot gold pushing toward $4,090/oz on the same de-escalation news that crushed oil.
Nasdaq (QQQ) and the S&P 500 (SPY) both confirmed RED on posture (9 and 26), the weakest technical readings on the board, despite modest headline moves of -0.31% and +0.02%.
The Fed's two-day meeting is underway; Wednesday's 2pm ET decision is now one trading day away, with market pricing clustered anywhere from roughly 65% to 78% on a hold.
