Warsh Holds, Oil Explodes on Iran
The Dollar's Uptrend Finally Cracks
Thursday, July 30, 2026
TRADER'S BRIEF
The Fed held rates steady at 3.50%-3.75% Wednesday, but three regional presidents dissented in favor of a hike, the most FOMC dissents since September 2016. Chair Warsh got the "good family fight" he said he wanted.
Crude oil (USO) jumped +7.32% to 129.31 after Iran fired ballistic missiles at U.S. forces and President Trump vowed retaliation, with WTI spot up roughly 6.4% to near $84/bbl.
The dollar (UUP) fell -0.56% to 28.42, and its own CCI trend flipped RED for the first time in weeks, pushing the Supercycle Score up sharply to 8/100 ("Strong Headwind").
Gold (GLD) and silver (SLV) both confirmed GREEN, up +0.46% and +0.14%, with spot gold near $4,137/oz as safe-haven buying builds.
Equities took the other side: the Nasdaq-proxy QQQ fell -2.04% and the S&P-proxy SPY fell -1.54%, as the Iran escalation overshadowed the Fed's hold.
